Dolce & Gabbana

   Dolce and Gabbana eyewear features both eyeglasses and sunglasses for men and women. They come in a multitude of styles, such as butterfly, cat-eye, oval, rectangle, round, square, and many others. There are also many different colors, frame shapes, and lenses types to choose from for maximum comfort and visual appeal. Prescription lenses are optional.

   Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana founded Dolce and Gabbana in 1985 in Milan, Italy. They met a few years before then and used their friends as models before being given the opportunity to showcase their spring designs during Milan’s Fashion Week in 1985. Their first fall collection, Real Women, is introduced the next year and is named so due to the usage of local women on the runway. They launched a line of knitwear before signing a production agreement with Dolce Saverio, Dolce’s family’s company. With this in place, they were able to get the funding to continue with their designs and soon launched a line of lingerie and beachwear. This continued with menswear in 1990 and entrance into the bridal market, along with the presentation of their first perfume. Their products soon get celebrity endorsement from Madonna, who wears one of their striped sweaters on the cover of Vogue magazine and more of their clothes on one of her tours. By this time, the Washington Post had already declared that they were the real deal, a representation of “the cutting edge of Milanese fashion.” Soon thereafter, the company launched its signature double-breasted jacket, La Turlington, which was modeled after Christy Turlington. By this time, Dolce and Gabbana has become successful enough to produce its own fashion show. In 1995, Dolce and Gabbana gets an eyewear deal, launching its eyewear line 3 years later. Dolce and Gabbana continues to find success with their work, opening flagships in New York City on Madison Avenue and West Broadway by 1997. More and more celebrities showcase their fashion, ranging from actresses to musicians to models. The company also finds success with its jewelry, perfumery, and cosmetics. Dolce and Gabbana allied with Madonna to create a line of eyewear under the label MDG. The company wore out its eyewear deal with Luxottica in 2011, but continues to produce and distribute eyewear today.
